Friday 6th July – Joseph Spooner (cello) and Glen Capra (piano)

Joseph Spooner (cello) and Glen Capra (piano) come together for an illuminating take on the repertoire for cello and piano. In the second half they look back to Brahms’s E minor Sonata – not just one of the masterpieces of the cello and piano repertoire, but one of the great works of all chamber music. In the first half Joseph and Glen celebrate Brighton composer Barry Mills with a performance of his fascinating and lyrical Five Pieces (written for Joseph and Glen), interspersed with Webern, Vaughan Williams, Barber and Schubert. Includes short pre-concert talk with Barry Mills at 7pm.
